This lecture series has produced an enormous amount of conversation and positive feedback! I’m grateful that people value my opinions, and it has been awesome to hear everyone’s constructive criticism.

Today in the conclusion of Part 4, I will be discussing how we plan for the competitive year. I have talked extensively about how we plan our entire training year (find it here), how we break that down into blocks/months (find it here), and exactly how I plan for specific events/strength sessions (find it here).
However, things like COVID19, Athlete A, and The Gymnastics Alliance Movement, caused us to seriously reflect on how we approach our training year.
We have always believed in wanting to steer away from the traditional approach to a competitive season, and more so the multi year goals for athletes in our community.
As I say in this lecture, we are making sweeping changes to how we approach planning for meets, the structure of our season, giving the athlete’s a relitive off season, and more.
I think that while some of these topics may be really controversial in our community, I firmly believe in them based on all of my experiences and the wide amount of scientific literature I’ve read.
